Forever grateful …
I heard it loud and clear: "Start a business to help families prepare for loss and assist the trustee/executor when their loved ones die." No one was doing this type of work. How does one create an entirely new field of service?
I felt a little like Bill Cosby's "Noah" character who was trying to follow God's command to build an ark 300 cubits long x 50 cubits wide x 30 cubits high - without knowing what a "cubit" was! (It is the length of man's arm from elbow to fingertip). Businesses are not built nor are books written in a vacuum. There are numerous people to thank for their inspiration and encouragement - some of whom are still alive and others who have passed away. Exit Stage Right® would not have been created nor continue to exist and thrive without them.
An endless thank you to my first husband, Dave Kline, who gently prepared me for widowhood, without understanding this would happen within hours of our conversation. To my parents, Bob and Kay Waggener, who were always there to support me, especially during the most difficult times. To my children, Aymie and Robb who gave me a reason to go on. To my second and last husband, Gene T. Smith, who adopted the children as his own when we married. We were blessed several years later to welcome our 3rd child, Sara Anne.
Gene was given the vision for Exit Stage Right® and has encouraged me in this endeavor with his belief in me and the mission. His support is invaluable!
An additional huge "thank you" to my Amazing Graces, Dorothy Streich and Stephany Smith. They have been my dear colleagues, friends and accountability partners for years, and continue in that role, giving me a swift kick in the pants when I get off track – lovingly of course! I also appreciate Sandy and Jim Trout, who have spearheaded the hands-on estate organizing.
Pamela and Spencer Grover shared my vision, created and maintained my website for so many years, which Janette Schwabenland has re-created into an informational site only.
And a big thank you to the other hundreds of you who have offered encouragement along the way, and the journey is coming to a close as I let go, and choose the status of Emerita.
With deep gratitude,
Jeanne
